MEET THE AUTHOR
Hi, I'm Paula Hayes
I write stories that speak to the heart.
Hello Word Nerds, Nettich Players, and Lovers of Strange Happenings,
I’m Paula Hayes — author of Lily in the Mirror and The Vexatious Haunting of Lily Griffin, supernatural historical mysteries filled with heart, humour, mystery, and a touch of magic.
I’m a writer, artist, crochet-loving “Nanna at heart,” and a passionate storyteller who loves blending magical realism with meaningful themes for young readers.
When I’m not writing, you’ll usually find me surrounded by books, paint, cake, children, messy creativity, and a few mischievous pets.
Through my stories and blog, I share my love of imagination, Australian history, vintage treasures, and all things wonderfully quirky.
Join me on this magical adventure as we explore the heart of the things that truly matter.

Atlas Eyesenwinger and the Trouble from Beyond
Something strange is stirring, and a boy named Atlas is about to find out just how much trouble the world beyond can cause. This next adventure brings the same blend of mystery, humour, and heart readers have come to love, wrapped around a story about courage when the unexplainable comes knocking.
Expect creaking doors, unlikely friendships, and a touch of old-fashioned magic hiding in the most ordinary corners — the kind of story that lingers a little after the last page is turned.
Release details are being finalised, but you can be the first to know the moment it's ready to land on shelves.

More Magic on the Way
The notebooks are filling up faster than the bookshelves. Between finishing touches on current releases, Paula is always quietly sketching out what comes next — new characters tapping on the window, new mysteries waiting for the right moment to be told.
Some ideas are little more than a single image or a strange "what if," others are well into the drafting stage, but every one of them carries the same promise: a story with heart, a sprinkle of mystery, and somewhere, a touch of magic.

Celebrating Children's Literature with the CBCA
Paula is a proud supporter of the Children's Book Council of Australia, an organisation close to her heart for the way it champions Australian stories and the kids who fall in love with them.
Throughout the year you'll find her at school visits and library sessions chatting with young readers about where ideas come from, taking part in Book Week celebrations, and lending a hand wherever the CBCA community needs an extra storyteller.
If you'd like Paula to visit your school, library, or event, or simply want to know where she'll be next, this is the place to keep an eye on.
